A Business Breakfast and Roundtable on Combating Hepatitis in Africa

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), hepatitis affects over 60 million people in Africa, however only 13 countries have officially published and disseminated a National Hepatitis Strategic Plan. During the 2020 African Union Summit, African governments will sign a political declaration to eradicate hepatitis. To adequately address this public health challenge, governments and private sector must work together to provide solutions that strengthen health systems to reduce the incidence of hepatitis.

CCA will convene a select group of U.S. and African government and private sector leaders to discuss concrete steps that can be taken to increase investments in reducing and ultimately eradicating hepatitis on the continent. The roundtable will also serve as a platform for government leaders to share their plans for combating hepatitis; and explore public-private partnerships that leverage private sector capabilities to achieve the goals set out in the forthcoming political declaration. The roundtable will feature special remarks from industry leaders, and a facilitated discussion on leveraging public-private partnerships to combat hepatitis in Africa.
