The United States and Kenya have enjoyed strong and deep-rooted diplomatic and trade relations for more than fifty years. In early 2020, both governments announced the launch of talks aimed at establishing a free trade agreement (FTA) between the two countries. In celebration of the first round of Kenya-U.S. FTA talks, the Corporate Council on Africa (CCA), in collaboration with the Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA), is hosting a dialogue with Kenyan and U.S. government officials and business leaders. Participants will discuss the guiding principles of the negotiations and explore how the private sector can support this bilateral effort and take full advantage of investment and trade opportunities that will arise from a Kenya-U.S. Free Trade Agreement.

KEPSA formed a Kenyan private sector consortium bringing all interested private sector entities in the FTA under a consortium in support of the Kenyan government's efforts in the negotiations. CCA and KEPSA have an MOU, and both organizations are committed to providing a platform for policy discussions, promoting trade, investment and business linkages between the United States and Kenya. This U.S-Kenya public private sector dialogue will be the first of many that brings the private sector voice to the government to government talks and aims to support the negotiation of a Kenya-U.S. FTA that benefits the economies, businesses, and people of both countries.
