About the U.S. Sudan Business and Investment Forum

In April 2019, Sudan's historic revolution succeeded in ending the 30-year reign of the dictator Omar Al-Bashir and established a civilian-led transitional government to lead Sudan's democratic reforms. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok, Sudan successfully negotiated the country's removal from the State Sponsors of Terrorism List (SSTL) in December 2020. This long-awaited development, along with the 2017 lifting of economic sanctions, ushers in a new phase in the U.S.-Sudan relationship that will facilitate increased trade, investment, and commercial partnerships between the two nations and their private sectors.

Following the recent signing of the U.S. Executive Order removing Sudan from the SSTL, Corporate Council on Africa and the U.S.-Sudan Business Council are partnering on a series of webinars that aim to showcase the investment opportunities across key sectors in Sudan including, but not limited to, banking, agribusiness, energy, ICT, infrastructure, and healthcare. The first webinar will be held on March 31, 2021.
